Have you ever had a hard time losing weight or fitting into your clothes? Ugh. I have an it's so frustrating. You spend hours at the gym, logging miles on the treadmill, going to fitness classes, lifting weights and it all seems like it's a complete waste of time as you continue to fight your own personal 'battle of the bulge'. Yep, I've been there and I know exactly how it feels: discouraging! What if I told you that you could lose weight, gain more energy, and live a healthier life by shifting your focus? Okay, stay with me here...if you have a pretty steady habit of going to the gym or working out, you're doing awesome things! And if you're mustering up the energy to do that, I'm here cheering you on as you develop that consistency! But if there's one change I highly recommend, it's that you shift your focus more to nutrition than exercise. Why? Because you can't change your body just by exercising. When you say 'no' to junk foods and fuel your body with more whole foods, you'll begin to notice your weight drop, your energy increase, and you'll feel better overall. You see, a healthy body is primarily created by nutrition..the right kind of nutrition--no junk foods nutrition. You may be wondering why this is the case. The reason nutrition is so much more effective than exercise is because it takes a ton of activity to create a calorie deficit (which results in weight loss) through working out when your nutrition doesn't change. All of this boils down to what I call the 'Healthy Body Formula'. Here's the deal...the 'Healthy Body Formula' is divided into 3 categories: nutrition, fitness, and genetics. If you want to create a healthy body 80% is based on nutrition, 10% is based on fitness, and 10% is based on genetics. Basically, you can control 90% of your healthy body outcome by how you feed and move your body--10% is what you inherited from your parents. If you want to optimize the 80% nutrition piece of the formula to create a healthier body & life, that means eating a whole foods like fresh fruits and vegetables, complex carbohydrates, healthy fats, staying hydrated, and avoiding chemically charged and over-processed foods--which is exactly what we focus on in No Junk Foods. The No Junk Foods Challenge is all about cleaning out poor food choices (often choices that we make unconsciously), and replacing them with the most nutritious foods we can find. So...what about the exercise? I want to challenge you to spend the 5 days of the challenge focusing on the 80% nutrition over the 10% on exercise/physical activity. You can even stop exercising for 5 days, and I know that as long as you're making the right food choices, you'll get results! Not sure if you believe me? Check out how I lost 6lbs in 3 days HERE from when I focused on my nutrition with zero exercise, and click HERE to see how I lost 11 pounds and 15.75 inches from focusing on nutrition for 21 days with zero exercise! Don't get me wrong, fitness plays a crucial role in having a healthy body, but what you eat matters more than how you work it off. Until Next Time,
