Everyone needs sleep—and enough of it. Sleep helps keep your mind and body healthy. Sure, sleep helps you feel better by boosting your mood & getting rid of under-eye circles, but getting adequate sleep is an essential part of staying healthy. A Carnegie Mellon University study in 2009 found that sleeping for fewer than seven hours a night increased the risk of catching a cold. No one wants to catch a cold on vacation. If you want to stay up late enjoying your new environment, allow yourself some time to sleep-in later than normal, or catch a nap (or two) during the day. You can’t make the most of your day if you’re running on fumes. And returning home feeling exhausted and rundown kind of takes away from the reason you went on vacation to begin with.
